May's Bounty
Originally known as The Folly, the ground was renamed in honour of Lt Col John May, a local brewer and benefactor who purchased the land in 1880 to preserve it for cricket. His gift, his “bounty”, ensured generations of players and fans would have a place to gather, compete, and celebrate the game.
